A deposit, loss or time limit a player can set for themselves to stay in control.
A limit is a restriction a player sets for themselves in the interest of responsible gambling. The most common are a deposit limit (how much you can add over a given period), a loss limit and a time limit.
Licensed Estonian casinos are required to let you set limits. A limit is usually set in your account settings; lowering it takes effect immediately, while raising it applies only after a waiting period, so the decision can be considered calmly.
Limits are a simple, effective way to keep gambling under control. If you feel play is starting to cross the line, a limit sets a clear boundary — and help is always available on the Estonian gambling helpline 15410 (15410.ee).
Start with an amount whose loss does not interfere with your daily life: bills, food and savings stay outside it. Example: you decide entertainment will cost at most 80 euros a month. Set a deposit limit of 80 euros a month and 20 euros a week; the weekly cap stops the whole month's money from being spent in the first week. A monthly cap and a weekly cap together are stronger than either alone.
The limit types protect in different ways. A deposit limit restricts how much money you bring in, but not putting winnings back into play; a loss limit counts the loss, regardless of how much you deposit; a time limit caps the length of a single session. For planning your play money, see bankroll, and for payments in, deposit.
In Estonia, player protection measures are regulated by the Gambling Act; the exact obligations are in the text of the law. Practical guidance is in the article responsible gambling and limits and on the page responsible gambling; for working out a limit there is the limit planner.
