Short definition

A campaign that returns part of lost bets over a set period — often as a percentage of weekly or monthly net losses.

Cashback means the player gets back an agreed share of their net losses. The terms may define which games count, when the refund arrives and whether cashback has its own wagering requirement.

Cashback can suit players who value lower volatility or want a longer session.

What net loss means in practice

Cashback is usually calculated on net loss, not on turnover. The exact definition is in the terms: some operators look at the difference between deposits and withdrawals, others at the difference between real-money bets and winnings, and money played with bonus funds may be left out. Example: during the week you deposited 150 € and withdrew 50 €, and the balance is zero. The net loss is then 150 − 50 = 100 € and a 10% cashback is 10 €. If you still have 30 € in the account at the end of the same week, the net loss (if calculated that way) is 70 € and the cashback 7 €.

Cashback does not make play profitable

Assume a weekly turnover of 1,000 € and a house edge of 4%: the expected loss is 40 €. A 10% cashback returns roughly 4 € of that, so the effective house edge is about 3.6%. The refund reduces the loss but does not turn it into a profit. Do not play to "earn" the refund or to win back a loss: chasing losses is a well-known risk pattern. You can estimate the refund with the cashback calculator.

What to check before taking the offer

  • Whether the cashback is paid as real money or as bonus money, and whether it has a wagering requirement. Example: 20 € in bonus money with a 5× requirement means 100 € of turnover, an expected loss of 4 € at a 4% house edge and an expected value of about 16 €.
  • The maximum refund and the minimum loss from which the cashback is paid.
  • The length of the period (day, week, month) and the payout deadline.
  • Games and bets that are excluded from the calculation.

How cashback works in general is explained in the blog article. Crypto casinos have a similar model called rakeback, see the kryptokasiinod.ee comparison. For background: Wikipedia: Rebate. If play starts to feel out of control, find support at 15410.ee.

Example: 10% weekly cashback. If your weekly net loss is €200, you get €20 back — either as real money or as a bonus, depending on the terms.

How does cashback work?

1. Accounting period

The casino calculates net losses over a set period (e.g. a week).

2. Percentage

An agreed share of the loss is returned, for example 5–15%.

3. Crediting

Cashback is credited automatically or must be claimed.

4. Terms

Check whether it’s real money or the refund is subject to wagering.

Is cashback real money?

Depends on the casino. Some pay cashback with no terms, others give it as a bonus with a wagering requirement.

What is net loss?

Net loss is the difference between losses and wins over a period. Cashback is calculated on exactly that amount.
