Short definition

The time a casino spends checking and approving a withdrawal request before the money is sent to the payment provider.

Casino processing time is the part of the withdrawal time spent on the casino's own side: from the moment you submit a withdrawal request until the casino approves it and sends the money to the payment provider or bank. It does not include the time the money spends moving through the bank or e-wallet system. Processing time is what differs most between casinos and is therefore a key indicator when comparing fast withdrawals.

What happens during processing

During processing the casino performs a series of checks, some automated and some done manually:

  • Identity check – whether the account's KYC has been completed and the details match.
  • Payment method check – whether the withdrawal goes to the same account or card the deposit came from.
  • Bonus check – whether the terms of an active bonus have been met and whether the maximum bet rule was followed during play.
  • Risk check – checks arising from anti-money laundering requirements, sometimes including proof of source of funds.

If everything is in order and the system is automated, processing can take only minutes. If a check requires a human decision or additional documents, processing can last several business days.

The order and depth of the checks are not the same in every casino. Some operators carry out most of the checks already at registration and deposit, so that at withdrawal only an automatic approval remains. Another operator starts the checks only when the player wants to withdraw money for the first time. For the player this means that with the same payment method and the same amount, processing time can be very different at two casinos. That is why the speed of the payment method alone is not enough: it also matters how the casino has built its internal process and whether its payments department works around the clock.

Processing time and pending time

These two terms partly overlap. Pending time describes the status the player sees, i.e. the time the request is waiting and often still cancellable. Processing time describes the process: everything the casino does before sending the money out. In some casinos the pending status ends immediately and the request moves to “processing”, in others the pending status lasts throughout processing. For the player it is important to know that the time stated in the casino's terms often refers to processing time, not to the money arriving in the account.

What makes processing time longer

  1. First withdrawal. A more thorough check is often carried out on the first withdrawal.
  2. Incomplete documents. A blurry photo, an expired document or a missing proof of address halts the process.
  3. Working hours. If the payments department works only on business days, requests submitted at the weekend pile up for Monday.
  4. Large amount. For bigger wins the casino may apply an extra check or a withdrawal limit.

The most common mistakes that slow processing down are covered in the post five mistakes that slow down a withdrawal. To learn how to avoid KYC-related delays, read the guide KYC check and withdrawal.

How to assess processing time

A reliable way is to measure it yourself: note the time of the withdrawal request and the time the casino status changed to “paid”. The difference between that and the bank arrival time shows the transfer part. Our comparisons separate processing time from transfer time as far as possible; see our methodology for details.

For background: customer identification requirements derive from the EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive and the Estonian Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act. That is why processing time can never be entirely free of checks, even when it is very short.
