Confirming your account and identity with documents — part of the KYC process, done before your first withdrawal.
Verification is the process where the casino confirms you are who you claim to be. It is part of the KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements that licensed casinos are legally obliged to carry out to prevent money laundering and underage gambling.
You are usually asked to upload an identity document (ID card, passport or driving licence), and sometimes proof of address. At Trustly casinos verification is often simpler, because your identity has already been established by the bank via the bank payment — so the check is faster or skipped entirely.
Verification is most often done before your first withdrawal. We recommend sending your documents right after registering, so a payout is not delayed once you have a win. A properly verified account means faster, smoother withdrawals.
The list of documents is up to the casino, but three categories are common: an identity document, a proof of address, and proof of the payment method, such as a bank statement showing your name and IBAN. For larger amounts the casino may also ask for an explanation of the source of funds; this follows from anti-money-laundering requirements, which are regulated by the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act. For the work of the Financial Intelligence Unit, see fiu.ee.
Send documents only through the secure upload in your casino account, not by email or chat to an unfamiliar address. Check that the page is on the casino's own domain and that a licence exists, see licence.
A withdrawal from an unverified account stays pending until the documents are reviewed, and this can stretch the withdrawal by several days. If a Pay N Play casino identifies you through your bank, part of the work is already done, but the casino may still ask for more information. A general introduction is given by the article KYC and identity verification and the entry on KYC. From the withdrawal perspective, see KYC documents at a casino.
